The paper shows the role of the zooplankton in the Romanian waters of the Black Sea down to a depth of 50m, for the feeding and dynamics of Sprattus sprattus schools, during April-September. Special mention is made on the Acartia clausi copepod, which is the best represented species in the mass of water, as well as in the fish food. The paper shows the trophic potential of the zone for Sprattus and how the zooplanktonic trophic base is utilized and how this is reflected in the fish production of the Romanian shore of the Black Sea.
